90th Anniversary Games to Welcome First Ever Junior Chieftains
On Saturday 7th July, the Forres Highland Games will be staged in Grant Park for the 90th edition of the popular annual event. In this milestone year, and to celebrate the Year of Young People 2018, the Games Committee will welcome the first ever Junior Chieftains to the event.
The Games Chieftain is traditionally a long-standing supporter of the Games event who presides over the day. This year for the first time, the Chieftain will be joined by two Junior Chieftains.
A spokesperson from the committee explained, “We want to do something a bit different this year as the Year of Young People coincided with our 90th Anniversary Games.
We want to extend the unique opportunity to become immersed in the experience of the day to younger people, so that they can learn about how the event is run and be an important part of official proceedings.”
Two Junior Chieftains of secondary school age will be selected from an open call for young participants to enter. Those selected will be part of the Games Opening Ceremony, tour the arena, assist in presenting trophies and more.
The spokesperson continued, “The Games is always a busy day with a fantastic buzz and the addition of Junior Chieftains will really add to the diversity of the event.”
To enter for the opportunity of becoming the first Forres Highland Games Junior Chieftain, please read, complete and return the Forres Highland Games Junior Chieftain Information & Entry form. Closing date for submissions Sunday 24th June.
