The countdown to the Forres Highland Games which last year saw footfall increase by 20 per cent is on, with new sponsorship opportunities available.

The Forres Highland Games will take place in Grant Park on July 4 and the organising committee are introducing some subtle changes including giving businesses the opportunity to get in on the action – Click here!

In 2019 thousands of people including tourists from Germany, Hong Kong, Spain, the USA, New Zealand, Ireland, France and Canada descended on the town to enjoy the Games.

Now in its 92nd year, the event has always been a real international affair attracting participants and thousands of spectators. Last year, the Games attracted a Scottish dance troupe who flew in from Canada and a stag party who enjoyed taking part in some of the Games’ day activities.

The stag party enjoyed taking part in Games activities such as the tug of war and message bike race!

Mike Scott, secretary of the Forres Highland Games said: “We are now over 90 years old and the Games have always attracted local and international audiences. Last year’s event was a huge success with footfall increasing by 20 per cent. We also attracted tourists from a wide variety of countries from across the world which just shows there is a real appetite for traditional Games and Scottish heritage.

“However, this does not mean that we are not also looking to the future and we are making some subtle changes to make sure that the Games keep with the times.

“For example, we are encouraging new stallholders to get in touch, but people needn’t worry we are still supporting our existing traders who in turn have supported us over the years. We have also commissioned a new a logo, just to modernise the look a little and new to this year we have an official sponsor pack.”

He added: “We have had huge support from the local businesses who in the past have always been very keen to sponsor one of our main events. However, our new sponsor pack also includes the opportunity to take an arena banner and also have branding on the message bikes, an attraction which is completely unique to the Forres Highland Games.

“We are very much looking forward to 2020 and working with the people of the town, sponsors, competitors and all those involved and hope we can build on the success of the last 92 years.”
