The 2015 and 20th Forres Highland Games Chieftain is Mr Ken Davies, one of the North’s most respected Athletics Judges.

It was when Ken joined the Elgin Air Training Corps that he first took an interest in the sport of running, competing in short and long distance running events.

He joined Elgin Amateur Athletics Club in 1977 and started coaching youngsters in the club three times a week. He also served as Vice President of the club.

When the Grampian League started there was a shortage of officials and Ken was asked if he would train to be  an official. This was the start of his career officiating at league matches and also on the highland games circuit; Forres being his first games in 1986 officiating as a track judge.

Being part of the amateur athletics scene for nearly 38 years Ken officiates at top level UK events and last year was a track judge at the Commonwealth Games.
